At The West Church
Our desire is to cultivate a Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered, and God-honoring culture. Culture encompasses what we do and don’t do, what we say and don’t say, how we live and don’t live, what we allow and don’t allow, and what we celebrate and mourn. We strive to infuse every worship service, West Group gathering, outreach event, meeting, counseling session, and ministry effort with this culture so that the aroma of Christ permeates it all (2 Corinthians 2:15)
In addition to our core values
We emphasize team values, which shape how we work together as co-laborers. These values are not meant to be memorized but serve as a shared playbook and reference point as we carry out the work God has called us to in our respective ministry areas. Like our core values, we reinforce team values using the “drip method,” where we discuss them regularly, preach and teach on them, and use them as a guide in staff meetings, ministry team meetings, and members’ gatherings.

At the heart of our team values
Is a commitment to Christ-like service. Jesus said in Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” While we may hold different titles and responsibilities, we are, above all, servants. May we never lose sight of that truth.
Team Values
Below are the 10 team values that together shape the culture of all our teams:
We Serve with Humility
Our Savior exemplified humility by leaving the glory of
heaven to suffer and die for us. Since nothing was beneath Him, nothing is beneath us.
heaven to suffer and die for us. Since nothing was beneath Him, nothing is beneath us.
(Philippians 2:1-11, 1 Peter 5:6-7, Proverbs 15:33)
We Serve with Excellence
God’s magnificent creation reflects His excellence, and as His image-bearers, we mirror His work in our service. We give God our best because He gave us His best.
(Colossians 3:17, Daniel 6:3, 1 Corinthians 10:31)
We Serve to Reach the Lost
The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. We serve to be used by God to reach those far from Him, just as we were once far from Him but have now been brought near through faith in Christ.
(Luke 10:2, Luke 15, Acts 8:26-40, Matthew 28:16-20)
We Serve Together as a Team
When Christ began His mission to save the world, He gathered a team—His disciples. Since Jesus didn’t go it alone, neither do we. Service is not a solo effort but a team endeavor.
(1 Corinthians 12:1-31, Romans 12:3-8, 1 Peter 4:8-11, Ephesians 4:8-16)
We Serve as Continuous Learners
Christ, though omniscient, grew in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man (Luke 2:52). Like Him, we commit to a lifetime of learning and growth, valuing progress over perfection.
(2 Peter 3:18, 2 Timothy 4:13, Matthew 4:18-19)
We Serve with Prayer Dependence
Prayer is our first response, not our last resort. Apart from Christ, we can do nothing. We are not simply a church that prays—we are a praying church.
(John 15:5, Colossians 4:2, Luke 18:1-8,
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
We Serve as Reconcilers
When conflict arises, we pursue reconciliation. How can an unbeliever seek peace with God if we are not at peace with one another?
(2 Corinthians 5:21, Matthew 5:23-24,
Colossians 3:12-13)
Colossians 3:12-13)
We Serve with Love
In God’s kingdom, gospel love is the currency of highest value. We love others in both trials and triumphs, reminding one another that failure is not final. Ministry roles may be seasonal, but our love lasts a lifetime because God first loved us.
(1 John 4:19, Romans 12:9-10, 1 Corinthians 13:4-13)
We Serve with Unity Amidst Diversity
The Trinity teaches us that God is unified (one God) and diverse (three co-equal, co-eternal persons). Unity doesn’t mean uniformity. We embrace our diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, gifts, and experiences while staying united in Christ.
(John 17:20-26, Ephesians 4:1-3, Philippians 2:1-11)
We Serve. We Rest. We Celebrate
God created the world, rejoiced in His work, and rested from it. We follow His example: serving because God serves, celebrating because God celebrates, and resting because God rested.
(Ecclesiastes 3:1-4, Genesis 2:3,
Mark 2:23-28, Psalm 150:1-6)
Mark 2:23-28, Psalm 150:1-6)
